THE A49 TRUNK ROAD (WOOFFERTON TO LUDLOW) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2019
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A49 Trunk Road, between Woofferton and Ludlow in the County of Shropshire, to allow junction improvement works to be carried out. The effect of the Order will be to, at different times, -
(1) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the A49 from a point 380 metres north

of the centrepoint of its junction with the unnamed road that leads to the village of Ashford Bowdler, to a point 420 metres south of the centrepoint of that junction;
(2) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the unnamed road that leads to the village of Ashford Bowdler from its junction with the A49, to a point 33 metres from that junction;

(3) close the A49 between its junction with the A456 and Wyson Lane, at Woofferton, and its roundabout junction with Sheet Road, near Ludlow;

(4) close any layby adjacent to the length of the A49 described in (2) above;

(5) close any bus stop area adjacent to the length of the A49 described in (2) above; and

(6) prohibit vehicles from entering or leaving the length of the A49 described in (2) above at its junction with any side road.

The work is expected to start on Monday 7 October 2019 and continue for approximately eight weeks. The carriageway closure, prohibition and bus stop closures will be in operation overnight between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours. The layby closures and the 40 miles per hour speed restriction will be in force from 08:00 hours on Monday 7 October 2019 and will continue for 24 hours per day for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on 4 October 2019. Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, closures and prohibition. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures and prohibition.
