A13 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR ORSETT) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A13 Trunk Road in the County of Essex, and Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the periodic closure (details below) of:-
a) the eastbound carriageway of the A13 between Baker Street (A1089) and Orsett Cock (A128/A1013) Interchanges; and
b) the road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A1089 to the carriageway described in a) above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of Thurrock Council undertake a road widening scheme. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 15 months starting on or after Friday 4th October 2019. Overnight closures will take place between 20:00 and 05:00 (maximum period), but there is a scheduled weekend closure at the start of the works and others to be confirmed - please visit Thurrock Council's website for details - for bridge removal, demolition and replacement. The Order will come into force on 2 October 2019 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted as follows:
1) an advanced diversion will advise traffic to leave the eastbound A13 at Stifford Interchange (A1012) then follow the A1012 and A1013 to Orsett Cock Interchange;
2) Traffic missing the advance warning will eave at Baker Street (A1089) interchange and follow the southbound A1089, leaving at Marshfoot Interchange (A126), and following Marshfoot Road and Old Dock Approach Road to join the diversion in 1) above; and
3) Traffic affected by the closure of the link road will be diverted westbound on the A13 to join the diversion in 1) above.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
