Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 34, Weymouth
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath No 34, Weymouth from grid reference 368458,081686 (point A on the map below), to grid reference 368390 081531 (Point B on the map below), a distance of approximately 170 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on the 16 September 2019, for a period of 26 weeks. This order can be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary. It is anticipated that the works will be completed by the 01 November 2019. The Order is required to allow the replacement of two failing culverts with a single span bridge and associated groundworks to be completed. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place.
