THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL VARIOUS ROADS IN BANSTEAD TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER 2019
SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL PROPOSE TO MAKE the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding: (a) northwards on Brighton Road (A217) Banstead from turning left into A2022 Fir Tree Road; (b) northwards on Brighton Road (A217) Banstead from right into A2022 Bolters Lane; (c) southwards on Brighton Road (A217) Banstead from turning right into A217 Fir Tree Road; (d) southwards on Brighton Road (A217) Banstead from turning right into D1009 Burgh Wood; (e) eastwards on Burgh Wood (D1009) Banstead from turning right into A217 Brighton Road; (f) southwards on Brighton Road (A217) Banstead from making a u-turn, around the central reservation adjacent to the junction with D1009 Burgh Wood.
This Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, namely the refurbishment of the traffic signals at Banstead crossroads, to be carried out by Siemens. These works are anticipated to be completed within 1 month, between 8am and 4pm, during the 6 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 5 August 2019. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary restrictions, which are anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The restrictions shall not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency; or in relation to anything done with the permission or on the direction of a police constable in uniform; or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
For sub-paragraphs (a), (b) and (c), the diversion routes are as follows: Diversion Route 1 (Brighton Road Southbound): A217 Brighton Road, A240 Reigate Road, and A2022 Fir Tree Road; Diversion Route 2 (Brighton Road Northbound): A217 Brighton Road (northbound), u-turn at the roundabout, A217 Brighton Road (southbound); Diversion Route 3: A217 Brighton Road, A217 Belmot Rise, A232 Ewell Road, A232 Cheam Road, A24 Ewell By-Pass, A240 Reigate Road and A2022 Fir Tree Road. For sub-paragraphs (d), (e) and (f), the alternative route will be via Tattenham Way, A240 Reigate Road, Nork Way and Green Curve.
