THE M66 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 1-4 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & LINK & SLIP ROADS) [TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M66 Motorway in the Boroughs of Bury, Rosendale and Rochdale, in the Cities of Manchester and Salford, in the Counties of Greater Manchester and Lancashire to enable resurfacing and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M66 Motorways:

i) the southbound carriageway, from its start point (the end point of the A56 southbound carriageway), to the first point at which the M66 Junction 2 southbound entry slip road joins the carriageway;



ii) the northbound carriageway, from the last point at which the M66 Junction 2 northbound exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to its end point (the point at which the M66 northbound carriageway becomes the A56 carriageway);



iii) the southbound carriageway through Junction 4, from the last point at which the Junction 4 southbound exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which traffic can join the M60 clockwise carriageway at Junction 18;



iv) the southbound entry slip road at Junction 1;



v) the northbound exit slip road at Junction 1;



vi) the northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 2;



vii) the northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 3;



viii) the M66 southbound exit slip road at Junction 4;



ix) the M66 southbound to M62 eastbound link road at the M66 Junction 4/M62 Junction 18 (Simister Island), from the last point at which it leaves the M66 Junction 4 southbound exit slip road, to the first point at which it joins the M62 Junction 18 eastbound entry slip road;



x) the access from Bridge Hall Lane westbound onto the M66 Junction 2 southbound exit slip road (when the slip road itself is closed to traffic).



The works are expected to take place overnight between 21:00 and 05:00 (continuing to 07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 8 July 2019 and ending on Friday 20 December 2019. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversions via alternative junctions of the M66, the M60, the M62 and local roads will be well signed.

The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
