(WALLINGFORD FESTIVAL OF CYCLING) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2019
Date of Order: 8 July 2019 Comes into force: 14 July 2019 NOTICE is hereby given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order is to facilitate the holding of the Wallingford Festival of Cycling on Sunday 14 July which is promoted by Tony Sefton,The Old Counting House, 82e High Street, Wallingford OX10 0BS. The Council is satisfied that it is not practicable for the event to be conducted off-road. The occasion includes various cycle events with numbers anticipated to exceed 1500 competitors and many more spectators.
The effect of the order is to close the roads listed below and prevent parking and loading for attendees to safely use the roads. The closures will overall be between 11am and 8pm on Sunday 14 July.
Appropriate traffic signs will be used to indicate when and which closures are in place and traffic marshals will be assisting the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Exemptions to the restrictions are included for emergency services and event organisers and authorised support vehicles, and for controlled access to properties. Road Closures and No Waiting/Loading: High Street - from Croft Road to the traffic lights at Castle Street; and the whole lengths of Market Place, Goldsmiths Lane, St Martins Street, St Marys Street & St Leonards Square. Diversion: Traffic from Shillingford Bridge (the east) will be diverted via Norries Drive, St Georges Road & St Nicholas Road; and from the west via Croft Road and St Johns Road. Detailed documents are available for public inspection at County Hall, New Road, Oxford OX1 1ND from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and at Wallingford Library, High Street, OX10 0DB from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday, Tuesday & Friday, 9.30am to 7pm Thursday and 9.30am to 1pm Saturday.
