Just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace sits TOZI, an Italian Cicchetti restaurant with a neighbourhood feel.
Victoria’s Tozi is a concept by head chef Maurilio Molteni, and has several menus available including lunch, dinner, a Cicchetti feast and pre-theatre.
You get a real taste of authentic Italy in a setting which is bright, airy, friendly and has an upmarket feel too.
When walking through the doors at TOZI you are met with a stunning open bar space which is contemporary, welcoming and the perfect place for a start to a boozy lunch, to sit for a quick evening drink or for a romantic date night spot.
And round the corner in the venue is the large open plan two-floor restaurant with an open windowed kitchen.
My friend came to London to visit and we went to TOZI for a relaxed Saturday - luckily it’s located right by tourist hotspot Buckingham Palace which is of course obligatory for any London visitor!
The waiters and waitresses were keen to help with what to order, and recommended ordering around six Cicchetti plates to share.
With a menu filled with such delicious flavours it was quite difficult to choose, but in the end we went for a tuna tartare, burrata with aubergine and tomato, zucchini fries and an avocado salad to start.
That pretty much sounds like a feast fit for the King just down the road, and trust me it was, with almost all my favourite flavours put together in one sitting.
I’d say my favourites were the tuna tartare and the avocado salad, but every single dish was made with fresh ingredients that tasted just perfect together.
For main course, my friend ordered beef and I ordered the chargrilled sea bass which was filleted in front of us at the table.
We shared some roast potatoes and broccoli with our meals and couldn’t quite get enough of what we were eating.
Paired with TOZI’s finest rose wine, we struggled to chat as we devoured our way through what was so delicious that every bite was savoured.
It was the perfect place for a catch up with a long distance friend, and the perfect place to fill your stomach to the brim.
There are shops nearby so it made for the perfect afternoon out, and I’ll definitely be going back.
