A central London restaurant has been named as one of the most beautiful businesses in the world.

Alan Boswell Business Insurance analysed Instagram hashtags, reviews and the number of times ‘beauty’ was mentioned and put together a list of some of the most stunning, and Instagrammable, businesses across the globe.

Among the named bookshops, restaurants and even art installations mentioned, was Mayfair venue Sketch, coming in at second place.

Based on the study, Sketch came in at a solid second, with a stand-out score of 75.5. It was the most Instagrammed venue in the study, with 92,880 posts. It also had the third highest number of reviews and ‘beautiful’ mentions.

One of London’s top restaurants, the three Michelin-starred venue comes with elaborate interiors and a menu to match.

Created by restaurateur Mourad Mazouz and accoladed chef Pierre Gagnaire, the restaurant has multiple rooms, including the Gallery, the Prlour, the Lecture Room and Library, the East Bar and Pods, and the Glade, each with a distinct personality.

During the restaurant’s 20 years, the reception has exhibited artworks by many celebrated artists, and 245 David Shirgley artworks were once hung on the Gallery restaurant’s walls – the largest collection of new work by the artist at the time.

Over the restaurant’s various rooms, every meal of the day is served including afternoon tea.

Sketch has an a la carte menu and a tasting menu too, serving up the likes of hand-dived Scottish scallops, native lobster fricassee, Mallard duck and Welsh pheasant.

Michelin Guide describes the restaurant as a “joyously colourful and lavishly decorated” place with “unfailingly attentive service and an exceptional wine list”.

As for the kitchen, the guide noted that each “element” excels in terms of “structure, composition, elegance and, above all, flavour”.

While the venue has elaborate installations that change with the seasons and events, its Sketch’s loos that have constant appeal.

The analysis stated that “Sketch is one of the few places with a bathroom so iconic it draws in Instagram users from around the globe. Alongside its euphoric bathrooms, this destination serves Michelin-starred food with a view. Every element of this establishment has been meticulously thought out and brings gasps along with it.”

The Mayfair venue came in second to Boekhandel Dominicanen, a bookshop in Maastricht, Netherlands which is housed in a 13th century gothic church.

Sketch was followed by Parisian perfumery Serge Lutens in third place and art installation Prada Marfa in Texas, America, in fourth.

Three other bookshops made the list, El Ateneo Grand Spendid in Buenos Aires (in tied fourth place), Libreria Acqua Alta in Venice (ninth place) and Livraria Lello in Porto, Portugal (tenth place).
